Whereas subways provide a far lesser overall cost;

Whereas subways help fight gridlock;

Whereas subways have a lifetime far in excess of at-grade light rail transit;

Whereas transit planning decisions can have a long range impact;

Whereas our municipal politicians are elected and have expressed their view on transit expansion;

Whereas members of provincial parliament are also elected by the people of Toronto;

Whereas the people of Toronto have right to know whether their MPPs support subways over light rail transit at grade options;

We the undersigned petition Hon. Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario, to allow a free and open vote in the provincial Legislature.This would allow each MPP to vote according to the wishes of their constituents and the benefit of Toronto as a whole.
