Taxpayers Voting Guide Unveiled

Over 275 candidates interviewed to learn their view on important issues.

This morning, Toronto Taxpayers Coalition unveiled their Taxpayers Voting Guide – a first-of-its-kind tool to give taxpayers a better understanding of where candidates for office sit on fiscal matters.

And as an indication of its popularity and importance, over 200 people have RSVPd to attend tonight’s launch party.

The Taxpayers Voting Guide is the largest such effort for the municipal election, having received over 275 responses from municipal candidates for mayor, councillor, and trustee – An effort, coalition president Matthew McGuire says, the group is particularly pleased with.

“Voters generally have a great idea of who they support for mayor but there isn’t a lot of media attention paid to the 44 council races or the 36 trustee races,” McGuire said. “With the Taxpayers Voting Guide, voters can now access all this information and read the unedited responses in one place at”

He also underlines the importance of not accepting donations from municipal candidates – a point he says is vital for a fair, non-partisan effort.

This evening, the group is hosting a launch party where they will unveil the Taxpayers Voting Guide, as well as the group’s 2014 term report cards on all members of council over the past four years.

Former budget chief Mike Del Grande is our special guest as we unveil survey responses.

If our past events are any indication, this party will be PACKED so be sure to arrive early.
